Mothers Day

We had such a great mothers day. I ended up with the entire weekend off!

On saturday we went to the Zoo. On the way there we went to a cool little carhop (yes seriously, like sonic but actually from the 40's) called Dumars. It has been featured on the food network. The original owner actually invented the sugar cone at a worlds fair. They have great bbq and we bought a bucket of cones to take home! I got jake a small bowl of sherbet which he devoured!

We have a great zoo nearby, they have an area for you to feed animals, the enclosures are very nice and large so all the animals dont look dead but it is small enough that you dont have to spend all day to see everything. I think Jake liked it. The giraffe enclosure is the best because they built up this large deck so you are at face level and they come pretty close. I think mostly he likes looking at other people and his new environment.













On sunday we went to brunch at a very nice restaurant on the water. Unfortunately my camera died taking pictures at the table to so we did not get any pics looking out over the water.





Jake tried potatoes, biscuits, apples and a couple other new foods which he enjoyed so much he wanted to show you what they looked like...

What a good month this has been. Work has been much better for me, I have had a couple days off that kurt, Jake and I got to spend together. It always rejuvinates me when I get to spend the day with my boys!


We bought kurt a new bicycle so he could attempt to keep up with me on my road bike. We also bought a pull along trailer for jake. We headed out to a trail that is only for people, bikes and horses (NO CARS). OUr first attempt to get out on the road did not go too well. WE left too late, jake was hungry and tired so we only got to ride for about 20 min with him wailing the entire way!
We left the car packed (as you can see that was a feat in itself) and started off early the next morning. We thought we were doing well when we found out one of the trailer tires had blown. SO we threw our hands up and headed back, very frustrated...but found a walmart, got a new innertube and it saved the day! we were able to ride for over an hour, Jake did great, sleeping most of the time.














Jake is a busy boy these days. I feel like our house is closing in on us sometimes. He is all over the place. He chases the cats around the living room, climbs in, around, over and through everything he can. He likes to find a toy and drag it with him all over the living room and he loves (much to our disliking) the entertainment stand, dvd player and all the videos. This is Jake pulling out all the dvds.

And finally, we had such a gorgeous day today that we went to pick strawberries. We have not tried them yet but they look delicious and I get some silly satisfaction from finding the best ones!

Messy Man

As we really begin to explore foods for Jake I am becoming increasingly resistant to brightly colored foods. They are harder to get out of clothes, and carpet! Jake however seems to like the messier food better!









With Spring finally here we have been going to the beach more frequently. We have a 1/2 tent we set up and it gives him shade. He seems to really like the beach. He LOVES trying to eat the sand, and likes the feeling of crawling in the sand. I cant wait to get my little beach bum in the water!
