To Grandmother's house we go

Each year my Dad and his brothers head to my Grandmother's house in Texas around her birthday. This year My Grandmother turned 80 and I thought it would be really nice to take Jake to see her. Unfortunately Kurt was not able to go with us, but my Dad was kind enough to fly with us from Norfolk.

Jake LOVED Grandma's home baked muffins!

We took Jake to the Fall Fair in Medina Tx. What? you've never heard of Medina? Well you are missing 5 blocks of PURE TEXAS! haha. Medina wasn't much but Jake liked the fair.

He really liked the petting zoo, got to touch a pig and goat.

He loved the live band and the instruments they had for the kids to play

Most of all, He LOVED the barrel pull. He laughed the entire time

Pumpkins and PopPop

Here is Jake with our relatives

They either had to read to him or play ball

The family

PopPop, Betty Jo, Helen, Larry, Uncle MIke
Grandma, Shirly, Jake

We had a really great time and I am so happy my Grandmother's siblings were able to meet Jake!

Settled IN

We Have been at the new house for a MOnth and it feels like we are settling right in! We are back on some type of regular schedule (as much as that is possible for us!) We have just about everything put away, and are LOVING IT. We started Jake in Little Gym. He seems to have fun. It is an entire room of stuff to get into and he doesnt get into trouble!

Of course his favorite was the balls

Jake is much more on the go now and rarely sits still, so I LOVE the first couple minutes in the morning when he lays with me!

Jake reading on the way home from northern VA

He is getting good at feeding himself. He throws a little bit of a hissy fit if you dont let him. BUt he gets about 70% in his mouth.

Just some super cute pics I couldnt resist putting in and the first Redskins game of the season!

TOUCHDOWN

Chillin like a big boy is his recliner watching a ball game

Yes he is wearing my underwear on his head. I was folding laundry and he was grabbing everything. he thought this was sooooo funny.

With Laura's wedding coming up we needed to get jake a hair cut! I was initially going to get it done a week before the wedding, but decided to do it sooner just in case it needed to grow back out a little. Jake seemed to enjoy it (well probably the fire truck!) but he did well and sat as still as you can expect him to. I think the hair cut came out well.

Jake got a fold up pool for his birthday. I had requested the largest one because I just KNEW I would be joining in the fun, but it didnt work out very well at the townhouse. We set it up in our new BIG backyard and we all had a blast. All three of us got in the pool and splashed around. Jake's new thing with any type of flowing water is to stick his face in it.

What a CRAZY couple weeks

It has been a crazy couple of weeks. I am sorry to you faithful followers for not updating sooner. Here is a snippet of the past 3 weeks.

WE packed up our stuff and moved over a couple days. It is amazing how much crap you accumulate. Now that we have a bigger house I am sure we will just collect more. If we EVER move again we will hire professionals!

-oh yeah, this was the small truck we loaded 2 days before we got the Monster UHAUL to move everything else. And you better believe we jammed packed both trucks.

In the middle of moving and working, we also celebrated my 30th birthday and my Dad's 60th. I thought it would be fun to go kayaking. I think we all had a blast. My MOm thought she was going to double up with Dad but when we got there we all had singles. I think she was a little nervous but she did it. Kurt realized he had fun AFTER we got out of the water and he made it without encountering a snake!

Jake has really made himself right at home in the new house. He has so much room to run and play. he thinks Daddy's recliner is really cool! He also LOVED the lawn mower. This kid loves anything with wheels or can be pushed or that has a motor.

Our new house!

A couple pics of Laura's bridal shower set-up. I think it came out really well and Laura had a great time
