Back to Cali

We headed back to Cali this past week. Me, my mom and Jake traveled from the Atlantic to the Pacific to visit family and friends. Jake did FABULOUS. he loves airplanes so he was super excited to fly in the airplane. We bought a portable dvd player which was a great purchase, read books, took a nap and played with some toys. Before we knew it we landed! We had a nice dinner and just relaxed after taking naps the first day. Jake took a 5 hour nap and we had to wake him up. The following day we went to Santa Barbara with Aunt Gail. It was a little chilly but was of course perfect weather by the time we left.




On sunday we had a picnic in the park with our relatives and friends. They had never met jake before so it was a chance for them to get to hang out with him.

SUnday night Maryl, Josh and Mason came home and the boys were super excited to see each other. Jake had to learn that all the awesome toys were NOT his! Of course the big firetruck was his favorite. "drivin just like Daddy"



On Monday, Jake and I hung out with Maryl and Mason and Mom went out with her friends.

Mom's 60th

This past Friday was my Mom's 60th birthday. We are so lucky to have such a wonderful, caring, beautiful mother and grandmother! On Friday we went to a fabulous restaurant called Steinhilbers. We came home and Mom opened her presents and we ate amazing desserts my brother made. (seriously-- chocolate chip cookie bread pudding-- OMG)













I wiggled my way out of working on Saturday and we got to spend the day together. we did some shopping, more shopping and then more shopping until we were too tired to keep going!

Since I had to work Mothers day we exchanged cards a couple small gifts on Saturday night and ate more of the dessert (chocolate pecan pie---oh yeah!)

It was a wonderful birthday/Mothers day weekend, but it is going to continue through this weekend when Mom uses her birthday present and we get to go on a scrapbooking retreat together!

Sunday after I got home from work we took Jake to see Monster Trucks on the beach. They do it every year, they have a show then put the trucks out. we didn't want to go to the show ("mocacucks very loud") but ended up catching the end of it and they SCARED Jake! He liked them after they pulled up onto the beach "mocacucks very big, Mocacucks Awesome"












A couple other pics from the weekend. Jakes favorite thing right now is bugs. He played with this poor lady bug for 20 minutes. I think if lady bugs have 9 lives she used them all up!

Cool finds

I went garage sale hopping the other day. I was looking for junky shorts that Jake can get dirty or use for PJs. I did not find any...but I found TOYS! I came across this HUGE firetruck. Kurt and I actually wanted to get this for him for xmas but couldnt find it. It sells for $40 but I got this for $3! I am not sure if I bought if for Jake or Kurt, I have found Kurt playing with it when Jake is not around!











Then after I bought fire truck I came across a Little Tykes outdoor play set. I had been looking for some type of outdoor toy not really sure what, but I was NOT going to spend a lot of money on it! So the guy selling it had it listed for $75. I had $46 in my pocket and thats what I offered. He took it! Jake loves it and I feel good that I did not buy it form the store for $300!!!!
